The Divine Plane

The Divine Plane is the higher realm that sits above the mortal world. It is the domain of the divine lineages, the Virean and the Rivari, and the source from which the two great spiritual energies, Vire and Rive, flow into reality.

Relationship to the mortal world

The mortal world is not separate from the Divine Plane so much as beneath it. Divine beings can reach into the mortal world to guide, protect, or corrupt it, and the energies of the Plane saturate all things below.

Communication between the Plane and the mortal world is not guaranteed, it can be clouded, severed, or counterfeited. This vulnerability is the seam that the Fracture was driven into.

Why it matters

• The eight guardian gods of this world are Virean beings of the Plane.
• Mortal magic is possible only because a sliver of the Plane's energy, Vire, held as mana, resides in every living thing.
• The corruption now spreading through the world is a Rivari working from the Plane.
