The two mortal powers at the heart of the holy war, Western and Eastern.
Two great mortal empires anchor the world's conflict. Once they shared a polytheistic reverence for the Virean guardians; now each is convinced its god alone is real.
The empires are inspired by real cultures for tone and aesthetic, they are not copies of historical Rome or Greece. Treat the inspirations as flavor, not lore obligations.
The Western Empire
Inspiration: Latin / Roman.

The war between them
Driven by the Fracture, the empires now wage holy war, each certain the other commits heresy. For players, this is the backbone of faction identity and large-scale conflict.
